A Rainy Day River Walk, a little mudlarking adventure.
What better way to kill a little time, than getting soaking wet hunting for old and interesting things in the river?

Messing About In The River, With Kit & Caboodlers. A Summer Mudlarking Adventure.

In late summer last year, I met up with Kit & Caboodlers for a river wade and dumpsite treasure hunt with glass bottomed buckets. Not many wonderful finds for me, they got almost all of them, as it was meant to be... still, had a lot of fun messing about on the river with wonderful people. Mud larking in winter, after storms and snow; braving the cold to find old and interesting things. On 15th April, 1802, William Wordsworth and his younger sister Dorothy were on a walk around the shoreline of Glencoyne Bay, Ullswater, in the Lake District, and came upon a large patch of daffodils. It is thought that Dorothy's diary entry of that day, inspired William to write this poem in 1804. Read by Tom Burleigh. I asked if people wanted me to do a Q&A video, they said yes. This is my first try at something like this, I did it in the simplest way I could think of: went for a walk with my camera and phone, and answered questions in the woods, by a river, near a mill, in the hills, in the snow. www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/yorkshire/hardcastle-crags/history-of-hardcastle-crags I hope you enjoy this vide...
A Medieval Castle On An Island In A Loch. Lochindorb & The Wolf of Badenoch.

Swam out one day, paddled out the next, to explore the ruins of Lochindorb Castle on a partially man made island. It's perhaps most notable, as the Stronghold of Alexander Stewart, The Wolf of Badenoch... from there, he launched brutal attacks on Churches, a Monastery, a Town, and a Cathedral. So much history, I got a bit lost in it. Strathspey tours: ruclips.net/video/02jbJ7EJrQs/видео.html I ...

Very nice adventure. You have a very nice and calming speaking voice. Like Nicola White you are a joy to listen to and watch. Thank you for sharing❤
Why not just call it The Corkscrew? [Oregon, USA]
The metal piece you found is a leaf spring, I have an antique wheelchair approximately 1850s( I collect old equipment I am a quadriplegic)they are similar and provide suspension for whatever they are used with. Thank you for your time and picking up garbage along with interesting pieces. I can no longer do this so watching your videos makes life interesting and enjoyable, be safe! PS I love the blue glass rod and gobie. Totally awesome!
Enjoying your video. Discovered your fascinating video when I looked up The Wolf of Badenoch. Last month I was in Scotland (first time) and back home in the Florida trying to keep cool with it being in the 90s here. I am reading a book by Neil Oliver on The History of Scotland to further my education. I managed to pick up 14 books on Scotland on the trip so much to learn about a beautiful part of the world. There are so many places we didn't get to see though. But we were amazed at the places and things we did see like Stirling castle, Dumferline, Blackness castle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Edinburgh castle, Holyrood, Ft William, Scone palace, Inverness, Urquart, Eilean Donan, the Kelpies, Isle of Skye , the Isle of May to see puffins and other nesting birds. Managed to find 78 bird species while in Scotland. Lovely video. Loved seeing the gorse again, the bird feather, the tiny frogs.....When I saw the rain I thought of our hike to the Fairy Pools and how our shoes took 3 days to dry out. haha. It was spectacular though. We did manage to beat the midges which we had heard so much about. Thanks for posting the video. I hope to get back to Scotland soon.
Missing your voice so I'm watching old videos again. Maybe a new one coming soon?
I love this spot
thomas, i love how you leave the site better than when you arrive, kudos for that that first marble was a handmade item,,usally done by gaffers ( glass artists ) at the end of the day prior to rechaging the furnace for next days work, also known for end of day walking canes. thanks for the content best roger
thanks for video 19-06-2024
I'm sorry to hear about your chronic fatigue syndrome.. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and symptomology is a lot like CFS. I can empathize with you.. wish you well!!🙏
Thank you. In turn, I'm very sorry to hear you have rheumatoid arthritis, it's something that my Mother suffered with for many years, and it was very sad seeing it progress. I hope treatment has progressed, and your joints remain relatively unscathed and functional.
how deep it is? of many meters?
Thank you for the hunt. I am sorry you are feeling sluggish. I wonder why you can’t receive mail at your abode? I guess, to keep it private? I hope summer brings you good things.

Rainy, sunny, windy day, finds, no finds mudlark ...we will take it Tom...always good to see/hear from you
I've recently moved home, and with the stressors that come with a house move and relocation, I've found these videos very calming.
I’d be interested in seeing the rest of the tunnel! it is absolutely amazing to me to see the intricate stonework on both sides of the creek canal whatever it is.
I’m with you on the feeling of nostalgia exploring abandoned homes, barns & sheds !!! When I daydream, I often see them again & again. This was very specal to me, it being Scotland.
I especially like that you take plastic, lead & trash from the rivers. You have such a beautiful view where you live. I enjoy your photography.
Love hunting for treasures, no matter how small, the beautiful greenery, sound of rushing water, & a voice like warm chocolate caramel sauce over vanilla ice cream, what more could you ask for!! All joy Tom.
I covet the large clear poison bottle that you left behind!
Incredible!
I miss your videos. Here I am watching reruns again. Kind sir please make some more
Hi Tom nice hearing you..issed you.
I really love your films ... I wish I could walk along side with you but I can't... I have to watch and enjoy... I'm bed bound....once a ballet dancer. and now an avid mudlarker. thank you for your filming - all your hard work.
Pleas keep Disc World on the top of your to do list ❤ I would love to see your rendition. Love your videos. Doesn’t matter if you find anything you think is interesting. I love your voice and scenery. I live in Oklahoma, USA . Very boring to me.
Why not use the loom device for displaying polished stones, rocks or glass?
I really enjoyed seeing the reflections of the forest across from you as you waded through the river.
Winter, like you Tom, is quiet and spectacular. 🩵
The thing you thought was some.sort of tank looks like the top of an old car radiator to me
Feel more confident in yourself as you are of great interest to many, many people. 20:18 20:18
Sooo gooddd to haveee you backkk...the familiar melodic music takes me to another plane.....
Hacía mucho tiempo que no publicabas un vídeo. N o lo dejes nunca porque tienes un don especial
Nothing Boring. If so only to you. Love the sound of the water.
Dear Tom. Big hug to you. Thank you for all your fascinating videos. So sorry to hear you may have chronic fatigue syndrome. I have heard that chocolate is a good tonic for such illnesses...... Please look after yourself and occasionally spoil us with some river larking, when you're up to it.
Love your videos Tom
Missed you!
Your videos offer a calming escape - many thanks for sharing your peaceful wander and authentic self
Top of a bedpost.
I love that first of two marbles, presumably German. Yes,I understand that a sea glass patina is important, but wow it would be great to se that tumbled to a near-perfect shine, the shine that a child so long ago was captured by,to the envy of his friends, right before a round of marble.
Absolutely lovely to see you again, Tom! I’ve been in need of a calm, soothing voice lately, life has been difficult. Cheers.
Thank you Tom taking us on this adventure…I LOVE YOUR STYLE VIDEOS VOICE WORDS AND LOCATIONS…LOVE FROM CALGARY 🇨🇦
I sure wish I had that view.
If someone was so inclined, would it be possible to gather large stones by the river to build a foundation for a dwelling?
How lovely to hear from you again, Tom, wishing you good health and many pleasant outings to come 🍀
I have missed your calming influence and voice. Couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you Tom
“Duped by a Stick” good title for your biography
Hi Tom. Just wondering why there is no save option on your videos now? I usually save them so I can watch during the very short windows of time I have between caring for my son. I so look forward to your videos.
What a lovely walk. And Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is so hard. A little bit too much is way too much and it'd hard not to overdo things. Take care.
Good to hear from you!
Love the flower and the MARBLE!
I would like to see you smelt a self a portrait. It doesn't have to look like you as much as represent your personality.
